Shorelines 03:45
Before slumber parties on the boat, Or pickin' pumpkins out with Grando... Or riding bikes or racing boats, Up and down along the coast of the Grand Traverse Bay... Before .e4 had a dime, Or swims along Northwestern shorelines... There was a world that was wishing and waiting for you, Before you came true... One day your mom met a man, And he took your mom by the hand... But she lived a thousand miles away, So he packed up and moved to the Great Lakes... So ask your dad about his bride, Ask your dad about his black eye... And ask him why he wore more makeup than your mom on their wedding day... Ask your mom about her groom, Ask your mom about your Grandpa... You should have seen it when they danced around the room to his favorite tune... My girl! When you get older someday you will meet a man, And he'll ask your dad for your hand... And if your father tells him no, He'll change his mind if you say so... Remember that wherever you go you've always got a place to call your own... You've always got a home wherever you go... Another baby's on the way, You're growing older everyday... So fall in line and take your time, As I'm sure you'll find it goes by too fast… Someday you will meet a man, And he'll ask your dad for your hand... And if your father tells him no, He'll change his mind if you say so... And he'll walk with you proud down that aisle, And look at your mom and smile... 'Cause he'll remember how he felt that joy, When your mom walked down that aisle with Beepsy Boy...

Broken Roads 03:14
You are a bird and I am an old oak tree, You're free to fly the sky while I am stuck on my knees... You built your nest in me, placed your trust in me, Rest your head, rest your wings... But opportunity flew you away from me and left me here on my own... I wonder if you ever will fly home... I love my home, it's all I know, My roots run deep under these broken roads... This damn city has been my family, And I'll be damned if I should up and leave... But still I wonder if I should uproot and go... Stuck in this dirt, my roots are veins for the earth, And I'll raise my branches high with pride for all the things that I've earned... And I can't walk away, it seems I'm here to stay to sort through this on my own, Your obligation, no communication, oh, you're serving our nation's home... Oh pretty bird, well have you heard the news? I love my home, it's all I know, My roots run deep under these broken roads... This damn city has been my family, And I'll be damned if I should up and leave... Funny how sometimes life makes you choose, If I go or stay, well, either way I lose... Have you found somewhere new to rest your head? Should I wait for you or find someone new instead? I love my home, it's all I know, My roots run deep under these broken roads... This damn city has been my family, But shit, who knows? Maybe you're my family, too… I don't know what to do...

I saw your soul a few years ago when we were running around in the rain, And you saw the same... We're gonna keep on running around now... Already sold the home that we don't even own yet, We'll trade it all in for a life out on that road... Already sold the home that we don't even own, You're all the home I need... We quit our jobs so we could chase our dreams, And so we could live our lives... We don't need no 9-to-5... We're gonna keep on running around now... Already sold the home that we don't even own yet, We'll trade it all in for a life out on that road... Already sold the home that we don't even own, You're all the home I need... Maps and globes take us to the homes of kings, Forever wandering… Rivers, roads… Living life with simple things, Like when we picked out this ring... Already sold the home that we don't even own yet, We'll trade it all in for a life out on that road... Already sold the home that we don't even own, You're all the home I need... You're all the home I need...

I think something's wrong but she won't tell, She's in the corner keeping to herself... She's got to take it up with God before she shares anything with you... They found something wrong with her blood cells, It didn't come from God, it came from somebody else... Heading to the University for diagnosis and surgery... She's singing, "Don't you cry for me, I will soon be free from the hell that has tortured me... I will soon be free…" It's alright… She fights the good fight but she's getting worse, And she won't stop 'til all the doctors, nurses, clinics, churches as far as the eyes can see can put an end to her misery... She screams, "The sickness that's inside me will not define me..." Oh no... She's singing, "Don't you cry for me, I will soon be free from the hell that has tortured me... Someday soon…" Well tell Heaven I'm on my way, I hear 'em calling my name they're singing "hey…" A few more minutes and then I'll go, I hear 'em calling me home they're singing "hey…" "Now don't you cry for me, I will soon be free from the hell that has tortured me... I will soon be free…" It's alright… "The sickness that's inside me will not define me…"

Baby Birds 04:27
The snow was falling, And we both went outside to see baby birds in their mother's nest... With our bare feet making footprints in the snow, It became clear there were no birds at all... Then we joined hands and drank sparkling wine, Watched candles flicker until we went back inside… Oh, and if you're feeling blue, Then just close your eyes and let your memory serve you… Oh, and if that just won't do, Then just close your eyes, remember I'll be home soon… It's just love serving love, Me and you... We went away to school, You went your way, I went my way... Separated by seven hours of the U.S. highway, But we still remember Central High School and country fairgrounds... And that white truck, It smelled like hell but we drove it around... Or when we went camping in the backyard, Just lying there looking up at the stars... Talking about nothing as time flew by, Watched the stars flicker until we went back inside... Oh, and if you're feeling blue, Then just close your eyes and let your memory serve you… Oh, and if that just won't do, Then just close your eyes, remember I'll be home soon… It's just love serving love, Me and you... We visit family up in Au Gres, We went to prom and danced the night away... We buried the dog when it was time to say goodbye, Stood there together until we went back inside... Oh, and if you're feeling blue, Then just close your eyes and let your memory serve you… Oh, and if that just won't do, Then just close your eyes, remember I'll be home soon… It's just love serving love, Me and you...

Ann Marie 04:12
Well my mom grew up right in between her four sisters and ten brothers, too... And after high school she went to work doing what her dad used to... Well she got married, started a family, raised us kids all on her own, And now her daughter is raising up a family of her own... She gave us courage, she gave us family, She'd give the shoes right off her feet... She'd light a dark room as she'd dance and sing around to Motown tunes... And when I enlisted to join the service she did not stall or hesitate, Or keep me guessing, she just gave me her blessing... Saying, "It's what he wants to do..." Slowly, Heaven took her slowly, But she marched brave and boldly... In sickness remained holy, Heaven, were you lonely? Well Mama, I still hear your voice and I still hear your laugh, And I hope you're proud of your boy and I wish you could come back... And I will live everyday to try to make you proud, And we'll see each other someday, someway, somehow... You gave us courage, you gave us family, You'd give the shoes right off your feet...
